State Bank of India is the biggest bank of India and also part of FORTUNE 500 COMPANY in the World. It is the 48th largest bank in the world by Total Assets. The origin of SBI dates to creation of the three Presidency Banks which was stablished in the year 1840 and its head office was established in the year 1863. All the three Presidency banks were merged to form Imperial Bank of India in 1921, which eventually converted to State Bank of India by an Act of Parliament in 1955. Bank’s major business activities used to be operated from Mumbai Main Branch building in early days. Corporate Centre operations were also done through this building and several Board meetings were conducted in this Heritage building. Mumbai Main Branch building is a connecting link to the origin of the State Bank of India’s strong foundation and glorious past, its centenary year needs to be celebrated.
